About

‘Fashions fade, style is eternal.’ – Yves Saint Laurent

The Relevance of Style is a style blog that delves beneath outfit posts to dissect just what 21st century style means. As the great Virginia Woolf once said ‘Vain trifles as they seem, clothes have, they say, more important offices than to merely keep us warm. They change our view of the world and the world’s view of us.’ Join me as I talk trends, wish lists, style icons and everything else that makes fashion & style so relevant to modern life.

 Things About Me

My name is Gina and I’m a twenty-something designer & writer.

Splendid is my absolute favourite word (hence my Twitter handle).

Misuse of the word ‘Couture’ is one of my biggest irks – it is not an adjective people!

Lipstick is a necessity, obviously!

You can’t go wrong with a good cardigan.

I’ve never met a pleated skirt I didn’t immediately fall in love with. (I have an obsession with the Whistles offering and have them in lots of different colours. It’s starting to become quite a problem but I don’t think there’s a rehab for that sort of thing.)

My personal style is Dior’s New Look meets Carrie Bradshaw (circa SATC season 6) – to paraphrase Stanley Tucci, “Give me a full ballerina skirt and a hint of saloon and I’m on board.”

I love hearing from readers, so please do me an email or tweet at any time. I can be reached at gina_gill@live.co.uk and @ginasplendid and will always try my very best to respond.
